Job description

Responsibilities

  • Review roadway images, inspection records, and AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy in pavement distress types and severity levels
  • Annotate or validate pavement features and distress patterns such as cracking, rutting, spalling, and patching
  • Analyze roadway imagery or survey excerpts to validate AI-generated classifications
  • Provide written feedback explaining model misidentifications or misinterpretations of severity levels
  • Clarify how inspectors distinguish between distress categories and evaluate sampling units

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience conducting or interpreting Pavement Condition Index (PCI) surveys
  • Professional background in pavement engineering, civil/transportation engineering, DOT specialization, or highway inspection
  • Experience working with inspection imagery, condition reports, or roadway maintenance planning
  • Strong written communication skills for explaining inspection reasoning
  • Ability to consistently apply pavement distress definitions and rating criteria
