About the role
Responsibilities
- Review roadway images, inspection records, and AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy in pavement distress types and severity levels
- Annotate or validate pavement features and distress patterns such as cracking, rutting, spalling, and patching
- Analyze roadway imagery or survey excerpts to validate AI-generated classifications
- Provide written feedback explaining model misidentifications or misinterpretations of severity levels
- Clarify how inspectors distinguish between distress categories and evaluate sampling units
Requirements
- Hands-on experience conducting or interpreting Pavement Condition Index (PCI) surveys
- Professional background in pavement engineering, civil/transportation engineering, DOT specialization, or highway inspection
- Experience working with inspection imagery, condition reports, or roadway maintenance planning
- Strong written communication skills for explaining inspection reasoning
- Ability to consistently apply pavement distress definitions and rating criteria
