Technical Director - Energy

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the Middle East Energy growth strategy and business plan
• Win and deliver work through market standing and senior relationships
• Act as a technical authority and Project Director on major energy assignments
• Identify and capture opportunities, leading major bids and pursuits
• Manage project financial performance, including revenue, margin, and forecasting
• Own and grow senior client relationships with utilities, regulators, and government entities across the GCC
• Direct multidisciplinary technical workstreams spanning electricity networks, renewables, and energy storage
• Provide independent technical review and assurance on complex designs and advisory deliverables
• Mentor and develop technical talent and build team capability
• Represent GHD as a thought leader through conferences and industry forums

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Energy or Power Engineering, or a related discipline
• Typically 15+ years of relevant experience in consulting, technical advisory, or client-side roles
• Demonstrable experience in the Middle East market and understanding of regional regulatory frameworks
• Established network of senior client and industry relationships in the region
• Recognised technical depth in areas such as transmission/distribution networks, BESS, or grid integration
• Proven success leading major bids and pursuits
• Strong commercial acumen in scoping, pricing, and risk assessment
• Excellent written and client-facing communication skills
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation strongly preferred
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant postgraduate qualification
• Proficiency in Arabic
