About the Company

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is an international non-profit, research-for-development organization that works with governments, civil society, and private sector organizations to address water-related challenges in developing countries and scale up solutions. IWMI is headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and is a CGIAR research center with offices in 15 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operationalize a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy aligned with key IFIs and climate funds
  • Build a multi-year investment pipeline and track funding opportunities via a dashboard
  • Strengthen organizational capacity to engage with institutional donors, MDBs, and climate finance mechanisms
  • Produce high-quality deliverables including concept notes, full proposals, pitch decks, and investment briefs
  • Leverage innovative financing instruments such as blended finance, results-based finance, and green bonds
  • Provide expert guidance on IFI institutional processes, including project identification, appraisal, and negotiation
  • Support the preparation of institutional documentation like Project Appraisal Documents and Results Frameworks
  • Conduct capacity-building sessions and develop a Resource Mobilization Toolkit for internal staff

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Finance, Economics, International Development, Environmental Science, or Public Policy
  • 10–15 years of experience in resource mobilization, development finance, or international fundraising
  • Proven track record of mobilizing funding from IFIs such as IsDB, GCF, GEF, World Bank, or ADB
  • Experience in proposal development for complex, multi-country programs
  • Experience with blended finance or results-based financing mechanisms
  • Expert knowledge of climate finance architecture and IFI fiduciary standards
  • Proficiency in design and presentation tools like PowerPoint or Canva
  • Strong stakeholder management and networking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA from a recognized institution
  • Certifications in climate finance, development banking, or project management
  • Experience working in fragile, conflict-affected, or post-crisis environments
