Database Engineer/Database Administrator

Responsibilities

• Administer and support AWS-hosted PostgreSQL (Amazon RDS/Aurora) environments
• Manage database snapshot retention, restoration, and refresh processes
• Provide database/migration support for major application releases
• Monitor health, storage, connections, locks, and replication status
• Perform advanced SQL performance tuning and query optimization
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Python, SQL, and AWS data services
• Support change data capture (CDC) and streaming architectures using AWS DMS and Kafka
• Develop automation scripts for data movement and validation

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Systems
• 5+ years of related experience
• AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL administration expertise
• Advanced SQL and performance tuning skills
• Python for data engineering and automation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CDC/streaming using AWS DMS, Kinesis, or Debezium
• Knowledge of Amazon MSK/Apache Kafka
• Experience with Snowflake or Databricks
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and CI/CD
• Experience with regulated enterprise systems
