Fractional CFO

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level financial strategy and advisory support to help the firm make proactive business decisions
• Build budgeting and forecasting processes reflecting contingency-fee realities
• Manage cash flow planning, including payroll stability and impact of case outcomes
• Translate financial data into clear, executive-level reports
• Analyze operating expenses, profit margins, and efficiency opportunities
• Perform scenario planning for revenue variability and tax considerations
• Coordinate tax strategy with the external CPA firm
• Develop dashboards and KPIs for firm performance visibility
• Assess and recommend improvements for tools like Litify, Accounting Seed, and Excel

Requirements

• Prior experience as a Fractional CFO or senior finance leader
• Experience with plaintiff-side contingency-fee law firms or variable revenue professional services
• Expertise in financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modeling
• Strong executive communication and ability to translate data into recommendations
• Proficiency with Excel and financial reporting tools
• Ability to commit to a fractional engagement of approximately 10–15 hours per month

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Litify
• Familiarity with Accounting Seed
