Freight and Logistics Specialist

Responsibilities

• Shipment Management:

  • Manage Procure 2 Pay process for assigned freight & logistics tasks.
  • Coordinate and manage the entire freight shipment life cycle, including air freight, FCL, and LCL from origin to destination.
  • Book vessel space with shipping lines and NVOCCs at competitive rates.
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation: Bills of Lading, customs declarations, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin.

• Customer and Partner Relations:

  • Serve as the main contact for clients regarding shipments, updates, and problem resolution.
  • Communicate with overseas agents, trucking companies, and warehouses for smooth cargo delivery.
  • Negotiate rates and service contracts with carriers and vendors.

• Operational Excellence:

  • Monitor and track shipments in real-time to resolve delays/issues proactively.
  • Ensure logistics processes comply with international shipping laws, customs, and company policy.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments in the logistics register.

• Problem Solving and Analysis:

  • Analyze freight costs and transit times to optimize routes and shipping methods.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Resolve unforeseen challenges, e.g. customs delays, cargo damage, port congestion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in freight forwarding, ideally supporting offshore oil & gas or maritime operations.
• Solid understanding of international shipping documentation, incoterms, and customs procedures.
• Experience with logistics software and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in fast-paced team environments.
• Familiarity with general and dangerous goods (HazMat) cargo.
