Inpatient DRG Validator & Coding Analyst

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient coding (ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes) to ensure accuracy and completeness for multiple clients
• Validate ICD-10-CM and PCS codes, principal and secondary diagnoses, and assignment appropriateness
• Review physician documentation for specificity and identify query opportunities to improve documentation
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory agencies standards including CMS, OIG, AHA, and Coding Clinics
• Meet departmental productivity and quality expectations
• Consult with client organizations and collaborate with service line team members to develop growth strategies

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of experience with Coding IP Claims
• CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) credential required
• Experience with Medicare and Medicaid DRGs
• Experience with DRG Validator
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS
• Proficiency in EHR applications (Cerner, EPIC, Meditech, etc.) and DRG grouping software
• Bachelor of Science degree in a related field or Associate in Health Information Technology
• Strong knowledge of hospital revenue cycle, coding, and reimbursement

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OP coding
• ICD-10-CM/PCS AHIMA Approved Trainer experience
• RHIA or RHIT credentials
