Job description
Responsibilities
- Formulate, design, and manage independent test and evaluation research programs to protect the public from AI systems harms
- Lead and contribute to the development of competitive research proposals to secure funding
- Serve as a principal investigator for Digital Safety's research programs in NLP and LLMs
- Apply AI/software engineering concepts to execute and manage specific research programs
- Analyze experimental results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions
- Plan, design, and execute research challenges using evaluation tools
- Propose and host workshops at leading research conferences in AI safety
- Stay ahead of changing technologies by reading scientific publications and attending academic conferences
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science (focus on NLP or LLMs) with 6+ years of research experience
- OR Master's degree in Computer Science (focus on NLP or LLMs) with 8+ years of research experience
- OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (focus on NLP or LLMs) with 12+ years of research experience
- Expert knowledge of AI/software engineering disciplines
- Demonstrated experience securing research funding through competitive proposals
- Demonstrated experience leading research programs as a principal investigator
- Ability to publish research results at leading academic conferences
- Advanced AI/software engineering and data analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to attract invitations to give keynote presentations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
