Medical Biller

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Generate and send invoices to patients and follow up on outstanding balances
• Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and necessary authorizations
• Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to diagnoses and procedures
• Record and reconcile payments from insurance companies and patients
• Investigate and appeal claim denials and rejections
• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans
• Maintain accurate records of billing activities and ensure HIPAA compliance

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one year of medical billing experience
• Proficiency in medical terminology and billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• High-speed internet (15 Mbps primary, 10 Mbps backup)
• Specific hardware requirements including i5/i3 processor and 8GB RAM
• Quiet, dedicated home office space
