Patient Financial Services Specialist

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding billing, statements, claims, balances, and payments
• Educate patients on insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and the company's billing model
• Manage assigned patient accounts receivable to drive timely resolution of outstanding balances
• Conduct proactive outreach to patients regarding unpaid balances and payment arrangements
• Research and resolve patient billing issues and payment discrepancies by partnering with internal teams
• Support collection efforts, including management of aging patient balances and bad debt accounts
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and account activity
• Monitor patient AR performance and provide insights to leadership
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare billing regulations

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, patient financial services, or medical billing
• Experience working directly with patients regarding billing or financial responsibility
• Strong understanding of patient billing, claims, and payment plans
• Experience managing patient AR or collections activities
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets
• Ability to work successfully in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish)
• Experience in a startup or high-growth healthcare organization
• Experience in telehealth or virtual care
• Experience with Athenahealth, Apero, or Salesforce
• Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification
