Principal Software Engineer

About the Company

RegScale is a continuous controls monitoring (CCM) platform that helps organizations automate and scale their security, risk, and compliance programs. We are transitioning from startup execution to a disciplined, enterprise-ready engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical thought leadership that informs architecture, delivery, and product decisions
• Own systems and capabilities end-to-end, including technical direction and long-term health
• Identify architectural problems and scalability risks, driving resolution with concrete proposals
• Design reusable platform primitives and frameworks to accelerate engineering teams
• Deliver across the full stack including Angular, .NET, C#, Python, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server
• Set engineering standards for API design, data modeling, testing, and code quality
• Develop technical capability in others through design reviews and mentorship
• Communicate complex technical decisions and tradeoffs to leadership and executive stakeholders

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven track record of owning complex, cross-cutting systems
• Experience leading technical initiatives across organizational boundaries without direct authority
• Strong engineering instincts for technical tradeoffs and architectural integrity
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in regulated industries (GRC, FedRAMP, NIST, or OSCAL)
• Background in enterprise SaaS companies transitioning from startup to scale
• Experience building platform primitives like SDKs, CLIs, and internal APIs
• Familiarity with AI/ML integration in production engineering contexts
• Cloud native experience in Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Experience with observability and performance profiling at enterprise scale
