Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products
• Redesign engineering workflows using autonomous agents as the default execution layer
• Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify)
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase
• Maintain high quality through verification loops, including tests, checks, evals, and guardrails
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and RFC discussions
• Collaborate with product teams to suggest technical improvements and solve business issues

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows
• High level of AI fluency and strong automation capabilities
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar)
• Ability to think in systems: defining specs, breaking down plans, and instrumenting verification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elixir and the Phoenix framework
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS
• Familiarity with frontend technologies like React, Nextjs, Vue, or Angular
