Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Design, propose, and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate delivery.
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase to enable cross-domain application.
• Implement high-performance interfaces with a focus on API design and accessibility.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring other engineers, and contributing to RFC discussions.
• Debug and solve complex technical and business issues while maintaining a deep understanding of the product domain.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows and improving them through iteration.
• High level of AI fluency and demonstrated capability in using automation and AI tools.
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
• Ability to think in systems: defining clear specs, breaking down plans, and implementing verification loops.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Familiarity with modern frontend technologies like React, Next.js, or Vue.
