Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Design, propose, and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate delivery.
• Build reusable agentic primitives and workflows within the codebase to enable cross-domain application.
• Use verification loops, including tests, checks, and guardrails, to ensure all systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring other engineers, and contributing to RFC discussions.
• Collaborate with product teams to suggest technical improvements and maintain a deep understanding of the domain.

Requirements

• Proven track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows.
• Strong systems thinking skills: ability to define specs, break down complex plans, and instrument verification.
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins).
• High level of AI fluency and a demonstrated ability to leverage automation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, or Haskell.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization, including AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular.
