Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Design, propose, and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate delivery.
• Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase to enable cross-domain application.
• Use verification loops, including tests, checks, and guardrails, to ensure results are secure, reliable, and scalable.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring other engineers, and contributing to the shared codebase.
• Collaborate with product teams to suggest technical improvements and solve complex business issues.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows and improving them through iteration.
• High level of AI fluency and demonstrated strong automation capabilities.
• Proficiency with Postgres (or similar relational databases).
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.
• Ability to think in systems: defining clear specs, breaking down plans, and instrumenting verification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir or Erlang.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks like React or Next.js.
