Senior Director, Software Development

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering organizations for domestic and international Library Management products and the Destiny platform
• Establish and execute an engineering vision aligned to product strategy and company goals
• Provide technical leadership across architecture, modernization, and operational excellence
• Partner with Product, Design, Security, QA, and Cloud Engineering teams to improve product outcomes
• Lead organizational design, talent planning, hiring, and coaching for development managers and engineers
• Champion adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI-enabled and Spec-Driven Development
• Manage priorities, resources, budgets, and risks using data-driven metrics

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field
• 12+ years of software development leadership experience
• Proven success leading large or multi-product engineering functions with people leaders as direct reports
• Experience delivering commercial SaaS or web application products
• Technical depth in Java, J2EE, .Net, SQL Server, JavaScript, and Git-based workflows
• Experience leading modernization efforts from legacy technologies to scalable architectures
• Familiarity with Azure or comparable cloud platforms and CI/CD practices
• Strong ability to influence across functions and lead through organizational change

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI development techniques, coding agents, and Spec-Driven Development
• Experience in EdTech, K-12 software, or library systems
• Experience leading engineering across international or multi-market product lines
• Experience supporting customer-facing products with complex implementation and integration needs
