Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

Protege is building a platform to solve the biggest unmet need in AI: getting access to the right training data. The platform facilitates the secure, efficient, and privacy-centric exchange of AI training data, powering partnerships with some of the most ambitious teams in AI.

Responsibilities

• Lead larger initiatives from discovery through design, build, and rollout
• Design complex workflows and data-heavy interfaces, including information hierarchy and interaction patterns
• Build customer-facing experiences for browsing, streaming, and evaluating multimodal samples
• Optimize large multimodal datasets for browser performance using streaming, lazy loading, and caching
• Build UI on top of embedding-based search for large-scale catalogs
• Handle sensitive data correctly, including scoped access and PHI-aware routes
• Set the bar for quality through testing, performance, and design consistency
• Turn repeated UI patterns into reusable components in a shared design system

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production web applications
• Deep expertise in TypeScript and React
• Experience with Next.js or a comparable full-stack framework
• Proven track record of shipping user-facing features end-to-end (UI, API, data model, and tests)
• Strong design judgment and ability to design complex workflows
• Solid backend fundamentals including API design, Postgres, and AWS
• Experience building data-heavy or media-heavy interfaces
• Experience working directly with users to shape product direction

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with browser media playback (HTML5, HLS, codecs)
• Experience building UX over embeddings or vector search
• Experience building or maintaining a design system
• Familiarity with Clerk or similar auth systems
• Experience working with regulated data (HIPAA, PHI)
• Prior startup experience as a founding or early engineer
