Job description

Responsibilities

  • Develop core gameplay systems and design directions for the dark vehicular roguelite project 40 SOULS.
  • Connect the work of designers, programmers, and artists into a cohesive design direction.
  • Analyze how mechanics connect to the core loop, progression, balance, pacing, and difficulty.
  • Design and refine key mechanics such as vehicle control, driving feel, combat, weapons, and enemy AI.
  • Create clear, concise documentation and formulate tasks for programmers and artists.
  • Prototype gameplay features to ensure they are engaging and understandable for the demo.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a game designer on professional game projects.
  • Strong understanding of core gameplay, system design, and prototyping.
  • Ability to think systemically, focusing on the connections between different game features.
  • Experience working with balance, progression, economy, or combat parameters.
  • Excellent documentation skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas simply.
  • Ability to work within project limitations and focus on delivering a strong demo.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Background in racing games, combat games, roguelikes/roguelites, or systemic action projects.
  • Experience in vehicle gameplay, AI, or complex progression systems.
  • Previous experience in Lead, Senior, or System Design roles.
  • Interest in dark sci-fi, post-apocalyptic settings, and combat vehicles.
