Job description

Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategy for ensuring safe autonomous system development, deployment, and maintenance referencing ISO 8800, ISO 21448, and industry best practices
  • Set the strategy for breaking down operational design domain components and driving behavior components for validation
  • Collaborate with software, data science, and systems engineering teams to ensure safe training of machine learning models
  • Establish safety standards for prototyping, testing, and deploying AI solutions, including data set validation and assurance plans
  • Define safety launch targets (Safety Performance Index) across vehicle behaviors
  • Create and confirm detailed functional safety cases according to UL4600 and ISO 26262
  • Manage the safety plan, ensuring all required artifacts and schedules are met
  • Train and coach the development team on safety processes and methods
  • Communicate with stakeholders to define technical and system requirements tied to safety goals
  • Plan and complete functional safety confirmation measures such as audits and assessments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a highly technical field
  • At least 10 years of experience in engineering or Autonomous Vehicle Development
  • Demonstrated experience in safety case management from conception to release
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field
  • Experience in Safety Leadership involving ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO 21434, or UL 4600
  • Functional Safety Engineer/Professional/Expert Certification
  • Proven track record as a Safety Manager through a complete product lifecycle
  • Experience with ADS integration
