Senior Product Designer

About the Company

Kota is making insurance and retirement benefits as accessible as modern software. We have two flagship products, the Kota Platform - the world's first fully integrated benefits platform and Kota Embed - our embedded insurance and retirement product for any platform.

Responsibilities

• Own design quality for Kota Embed, designing surfaces where data models and UI are co-designed
• Use research methods at sprint cadence, including user tests and log analysis
• Apply systems thinking to promote recurring interaction surfaces into design-system components
• Drive UX influence by facilitating ceremonies and getting stakeholders involved in usability sessions
• Produce working prototypes that serve as technical specifications to close the gap between design and engineering
• Focus on outcomes by locking down problems, assumptions, and success criteria before solutions

Requirements

• Experience working inside complex, ideally B2B or API-driven products
• Proven ability to ship products with invisible complexity
• Proficiency in rapid prototyping using tools like Figma, Cursor, or Claude Code
• Strong craft fundamentals in typography, spacing, rhythm, and hierarchy
• Ability to triage uncertainty using data-driven decision making
• Experience with research methods and tools like Datadog or Mixpanel

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest or experience in embedded financial products, fintech, or insurance
• Experience designing developer product experiences for technical users
