About the Company

Playlab is a nonprofit building public infrastructure for educational AI, enabling a global community to create AI tools that reflect their needs and values. They equip educators and students with the tools and professional development needed to build custom AI apps for their unique contexts.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of Playlab surfaces from prototype through shipped product
• Research, experiment with, and implement interaction patterns that empower educators to be makers of technology
• Shape how educators learn about AI and grow their confidence to tinker with it
• Define design spaces for fuzzy goals and drive them through prototyping and iteration
• Maintain high standards of visual, interaction, and communication design

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a design generalist with a focus in product design
• Proven track record in one or more other design disciplines
• Ability to lead design on owned projects while collaborating across teams
• Broad knowledge of creative tools and workflows, including AI-leveraged tools
• Strong technical fluency and interest in working closely with engineers
• Passion for learning environments and working with educators and students

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in education or building in edtech
• Experience with designing creative technology
• A love for creative side quests
