Job description

Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop and maintain tools to identify, mitigate, and prevent abuse across Wikimedia projects
  • Design privacy-conscious systems to detect behavioral patterns of abuse while respecting user anonymity
  • Adapt abuse detection strategies to changes in browser privacy standards and platform architecture
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and researchers
  • Write resilient, maintainable code and implement observability for system stability
  • Instrument and measure the impact of anti-abuse efforts

Requirements

  • 1+ years of related professional experience
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale applications
  • Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, or similar languages
  • Proficiency in relational databases
  • Strong foundation in security principles
  • Experience driving cross-team objectives and product impact

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with abuse fighting or security concerns
  • History of open source contributions
