Job description

Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex customer problems across Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, and Kubernetes
  • Develop bug fixes and backport patches, working with upstream communities for inclusion
  • Review code produced by other engineers and maintain clear technical communications
  • Collaborate with Field, Support, and product engineering teams
  • Prioritize work effectively and participate in process and documentation improvements
  • Work from home with international travel up to 10% for team meetings and events

Requirements

  • Exceptional academic track record and background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
  • Experience with Linux and open source software
  • Experience with at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
  • Drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive difficult issues
  • Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in or willingness to learn Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Debian packaging, or distributed systems
