Job description
Responsibilities
- Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source software
- Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and collaborate with upstream communities for inclusion
- Review code produced by other engineers
- Maintain close working relationships with Field, Support, and product engineering teams
- Troubleshoot and drive issues to resolution with workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes
- Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
- Travel internationally up to 10% of work time for team meetings, events, and conferences
Requirements
- Professional experience as a software engineer
- Background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
- Strong experience with Linux
- Experience with Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, or other cloud technologies
- Development-level experience with Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
- Ability to troubleshoot with debugging tools like gdb
- Familiarity with git source code repositories
- Exceptional academic track record
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Ubuntu Linux kernel or userspace
- Familiarity with QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, or distributed systems
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Debian packaging
- Passion for open source development and troubleshooting
