Staff Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve architecture within defined infrastructure domains, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.
• Lead the delivery of high-impact, ambiguous infrastructure projects, including migrations and re-architectures.
• Drive technical direction and long-term strategy (6-18 months) for hybrid-cloud and workplace infrastructure.
• Collaborate across IT, SRE, Security, and Service Owner teams to unify solutions and influence technical decisions.
• Improve system reliability through monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and root cause analysis.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and Infrastructure as Code to decrease toil.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance to raise the overall quality of the team.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles.
• Proven experience designing and operating production-scale infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in VMware and Cisco UCS.
• Strong proficiency with Application and Network Loadbalancers.
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix Operating Systems.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, routing, and firewalls.
• Experience working within data center environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
• Proficiency in Python for automation.
• Familiarity with observability tooling and modern reliability practices.
• Experience with containerization and modern platform tooling.
• Knowledge of security best practices in infrastructure design.
• Experience with GitHub Enterprise Administration (SSO/SCIM, Repo Management).
