Surgical Clinical Reviewer (NSQIP) Team Lead

Responsibilities

• Conduct orientation to medical records for new abstraction team members
• Manage the green-lighting process and ongoing IRR, identifying performance concerns
• Manage fallout review, exception/occurrence reporting, and Second Look processes
• Provide follow-up, feedback, and education to the project team on quality issues
• Collaborate with leadership to identify quality trends in data and hospital performance
• Mentor, train, and provide guidance to new hires during onboarding
• Maintain and update abstraction team support documents and Measure Detail forms
• Complete first pass of pre-submission clean-up and update cases
• Act as subject matter expert in assigned registry, providing 15-20% abstraction support

Requirements

• 2+ years direct data abstraction experience in Adult NSQIP
• Experience abstracting procedure targeted cases
• SCR (Surgical Clinical Reviewer) Certification
• Proficiency with MS Office (Microsoft Excel)
• Experience with multiple EMR systems and clinical databases
• High standards for accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong self-organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Surgical nursing background
• 1+ years providing coaching and guidance to teams
• RN, LPN, RT, RVT, or RCIS credentials
