Job description

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with researchers to identify texts for translation and estimate timelines
  • Incorporate feedback from Subject Matter Experts and Advisors
  • Support development of Factsheets, analytical papers, and articles
  • Translate 1400sā€“1800s Braj or Persian texts into clear, accurate English
  • Preserve linguistic nuance, poetic structure, and historical and cultural context
  • Flag ambiguous passages and collaborate on interpretation
  • Adhere to project-wide translation standards and maintain terminology consistency

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in Braj
  • Strong command of English with clear, readable prose
  • Ability to read Gurmukhi
  • Experience working with historical texts and manuscripts
  • Familiarity with South Asian historical contexts
  • Familiarity with Sikh history
