Accounts Receivable Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned insurance accounts receivable to ensure timely reimbursement and reduce aging balances
• Follow up with insurance payers on outstanding claims, underpayments, denials, and payment discrepancies
• Investigate and resolve claim denials by submitting corrected claims, appeals, and supporting documentation
• Accurately post insurance payments, adjustments, and remittances into the billing system
• Perform daily payment reconciliation against ERA, EOB, and bank deposits
• Research and resolve unapplied cash, payment variances, and overpayments
• Respond professionally to patient inquiries regarding billing statements and insurance claims
• Analyze AR and denial data to identify trends and process improvement opportunities
• Support month-end close activities and audit requests

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or relevant coursework
• 2+ years of healthcare revenue cycle experience
• Knowledge of medical billing, insurance claims processing, and payer reimbursement
• Experience resolving claim denials and reconciling ERAs/EOBs
• Proficiency with EMR and medical billing systems
• Proficiency with Google Workspace
• Ability to work successfully in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a startup or high-growth healthcare organization
• Experience in telehealth or virtual care
• Experience with Athenahealth, Apero, or Salesforce
• Healthcare revenue cycle certification (CRCR, CPB, CPC)
