Job Description
Responsibilities
- Lead interdisciplinary research into offense-defense dynamics of advanced AI systems, focusing on how technical attributes and sociotechnical contexts shift risk balances
- Develop quantitative system-dynamics and simulation models that capture interactions between technological, social, and institutional factors
- Design analytical models to identify leverage points where policy or technical interventions can shift outcomes toward defensive/safety uses
- Expand and operationalize an offense/defense taxonomy into measurable metrics and predictive models
- Build semi-quantitative, semi-empirical frameworks validated against documented case studies of AI misuse and beneficial deployments
- Create practical tools and assessment methodologies to evaluate new AI models for likely offense-defense implications
- Communicate results through policy briefs, blog posts, conference talks, and stakeholder workshops targeted to UAE and international audiences
- Translate research into actionable guidance for policymakers, standards bodies, AI developers, and security practitioners

Preferred Qualifications

- Empirical technology assessment and incident/case database analysis
- Familiarity with international relations and proliferation dynamics
