Job description

Responsibilities

  • Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting by cleaning, masking, and sanding areas to remove old paint or contaminants.
  • Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats according to industry standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Use spray painting equipment to ensure even and accurate application of paint to aircraft surfaces.
  • Follow precise instructions and blueprints to create custom designs, logos, or lettering on aircraft.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for quality, ensuring proper thickness, gloss, and uniformity of color.
  • Repair and touch up paintwork as necessary, ensuring aircraft meet regulatory and aesthetic standards.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are in proper working order.
  • Comply with safety regulations, using appropriate protective gear and maintaining a safe workspace.
  • Record and document all work performed, including materials used and procedures followed.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to ensure on-time aircraft delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding chemical and hazardous material use.
  • Assist with the development of painting schedules and timelines to meet project completion goals.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Aircraft Painter or a similar role (automotive or industrial painting).
  • Familiarity with aircraft painting techniques, materials, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Skilled in the use of spray guns, sanders, buffers, and related painting equipment.
  • Attention to detail, able to produce quality finishes.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for handling hazardous chemicals/materials.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Able to work in a team and communicate effectively with technicians and engineers.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various aircraft types (commercial, military, private jets).
  • Knowledge of corrosion prevention and metal treatment.
  • Understanding of eco-friendly painting products and practices.
  • Ability to apply complex custom designs or branding.
  • Certification in aircraft painting or similar field (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of aviation regulatory standards (FAA, EASA, etc.) for painting/surface finishing.
  • Training in hazardous materials safety (e.g., OSHA, WHMIS).
