Analytics Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve dbt models to transform raw source-system data into reporting-ready tables
• Improve data models by reducing duplication and documenting business logic
• Govern the Lightdash semantic layer to ensure consistent metric definitions
• Build and maintain observability, testing, and monitoring across the analytics stack
• Maintain strong development practices including version control, PR reviews, and documentation
• Partner with analysts and stakeholders to review modeling quality and promote self-service analytics

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience working with SQL and a modern cloud data warehouse
• Strong hands-on experience with dbt
• Experience building canonical data models and governed metrics
• Experience working with a semantic layer or governed BI environment (e.g., Lightdash, LookML)
• Strong grasp of data modeling concepts and business domain judgment
• Proficiency with version control, code review, and testing
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with BigQuery, Lightdash, and Fivetran
• Experience diagnosing data issues from Salesforce or LMS platforms
• Experience with data observability tools like Elementary, Monte Carlo, or Great Expectations
• Familiarity with Python for automation or data investigation
• Experience with CI/CD and Terraform
• Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven environments
