Android Engineer

Responsibilities

• Direct multiple AI coding agents to design, build, test, and ship Android features in Kotlin
• Take total ownership of Android app slices including discovery, architecture, implementation, and QA
• Manage an "engineer-as-a-team" workflow using agents for spec drafting, codegen, and testing
• Maintain and evolve Android architecture using Clean Architecture, MVVM, Koin, and Coroutines/Flow
• Design prompts, evals, and harnesses to make AI-assisted development repeatable
• Implement automation via Fastlane, CircleCI, and AppCenter
• Monitor production health using Sentry, Datadog, and Firebase
• Mentor teams on AI-native workflows

Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional Android development experience
• Demonstrable fluency with AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot
• Strong expertise in Kotlin and modern Android architecture (MVVM, Clean Architecture, Multi-module Gradle)
• Experience with REST + JSON:API and Shopify SDKs
• Ability to work autonomously with production monitoring tools (Sentry, Datadog, Firebase)
• Excellent written communication skills for distributed async work

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing custom AI agents or MCP tools
• Experience leading XML/DataBinding to Jetpack Compose migrations
• Proficiency with the Grove stack: Stripe, Heap, Braze, AppsFlyer, and Contentful
• Experience with CI/CD automation and Gradle build optimization
• Background in e-commerce or subscription-based mobile applications
