About the Company

Imagine Worldwide believes that every child should be empowered with the basic right to literacy and numeracy. We provide an innovative education technology solution and implementation model to the global literacy/numeracy learning crisis using the onebillion application and various toolkits and systems to support implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Design maintainable Android device software architectures to support multiple tablet hardware variants
  • Assess the impact of component changes on Android firmware, kernel, and applications
  • Work with SoC vendor platforms (e.g., MediaTek) including BSPs, bootloaders, and kernel configuration
  • Modify, build, and test bootloader, kernel, and device tree components
  • Contribute to Android application development in Kotlin and/or Java
  • Maintain Android ROM build processes, release artefacts, and signing steps
  • Define production flashing, device provisioning, and factory testing processes
  • Ensure safe over-the-air (OTA) update processes and recovery planning

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Android systems engineering, embedded Linux, or firmware engineering
  • Hands-on experience with Android BSPs, AOSP, bootloaders, and Linux kernel configuration
  • Experience with MediaTek/MTK Android platforms and production image workflows
  • Experience diagnosing hardware/software compatibility issues on Android devices
  • Experience developing Android applications or device-side tools in Kotlin or Java
  • Experience with secure boot, Android Verified Boot, and OTA updates
  • Proficiency using UART logs, adb, fastboot, and kernel logs for debugging
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work with Chinese contract manufacturers, ODMs, or Industrial Design Houses
  • Experience supporting Android devices deployed at large scale in low-connectivity environments
  • Experience with kiosk mode, MDM, or educational technology deployments
  • Knowledge of OpenWRT or other embedded Linux platforms
  • Mandarin language skills
