Assistant Controller

Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for multiple clients, managing workflow and coordination among team members
• Lead recurring client check-in calls to discuss status, open items, and operational needs
• Reconcile banking transactions, prepare journal entries, and maintain general ledgers in accordance with US GAAP using Xero
• Drive the month-end close process and manage investment information for all fund investments
• Prepare and review quarterly financial statements, including partners’ capital allocations
• Utilize proprietary investment management database (FundPanel) for investor correspondence and fund activity updates
• Coordinate the preparation of audit materials and manage year-end financial statement audits and tax work
• Delegate tasks to junior team members and act as a reviewer of their work
• Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff to support their professional development

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in the alternative asset industry (Venture Capital or Private Equity preferred)
• In-depth understanding of US GAAP and partnership accounting, including complex allocation waterfalls
• Experience in a client-facing role leading engagements for multiple clients
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Xero or QuickBooks
• Strong problem-solving skills and a resourceful, driven mindset
• Passion for mentoring and coaching team members

• External auditor experience
• CPA certification
