Job description

Responsibilities

  • Provide substantive legal services to the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute (HVTI)
  • Review research agreements including clinical trial, collaboration, research service, data use, and grant agreements
  • Maintain expertise and advise department members regarding legal developments
  • Ensure compliance within specialized areas of law
  • Review a high volume of contracts (approximately 200–400 per year)
  • Collaborate on projects and leadership initiatives within the Law Department

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school
  • Two to five years of attorney or comparable direct legal experience
  • Member in good standing of the state bar or ability to join within a reasonable period
  • Primary experience in reviewing contracts (research, general, or supply chain)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion
  • Ability to perform work in a stressful environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing clinical research agreements
  • Regulatory experience with HIPAA, GDPR, or similar data privacy regulations
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations
  • Understanding of human subject research and IRB processes
