Job description

Responsibilities

  • Act as Lead ERISA & employee benefits attorney
  • Advice on ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA compliance regarding HRA and plan designs
  • Negotiate BAA and review benefit plan documents including HRA and gestational surrogacy
  • Provide strategic advice on new product offerings, taxation, privacy, and state regulations
  • Monitor regulatory developments from the DOL, IRS, and HHS
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate legal risk
  • Manage outside counsel relationships for ERISA related issues
  • Contribute to legal department processes, templates, and training programs

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in good standing
  • 5-8+ years of legal experience with a focus on ERISA/employee benefits law
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, HIPAA, ACA, CAA, COBRA, and FMLA
  • Strong understanding of healthcare privacy and data security law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
