Burmese Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Burmese and English for healthcare and medical calls
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter standards of practice
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure accuracy
• Use industry-specific medical terminology appropriately
• Facilitate clear communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leadership and comply with dress code for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Burmese and fluent English
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI experience preferred but not required
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Healthcare certifications preferred (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)
• High emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Windows 10 or higher (Mac and Chromebook not permitted)
• Dual core 2GHz processor (Intel Core i5 or superior)
• 8GB RAM minimum
• Wired internet connection: 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload minimum (Wi-Fi not allowed)
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth or wireless)
• Computer must operate in "High Performance" mode with power adapter plugged in
