Cantonese/Mandarin Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Cantonese/Mandarin and English
• Facilitate communication in healthcare and medical settings with proper terminology
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional standards and dress code for video remote interpreting
• Participate in internal training and pursue relevant professional certifications
• Report to team leadership and collaborate with fellow interpreters

Requirements

• Native fluency in Cantonese/Mandarin with professional English proficiency
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Healthcare certifications preferred (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)
• High emotional intelligence and cross-cultural tolerance
• Strong listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Dedicated wired internet: minimum 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload (Wi-Fi not permitted)
• Windows 10 or higher, Intel Core i5+ processor, 8GB RAM minimum
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone
• Computer operating in "High Performance" mode with power adapter plugged in
• No Chromebooks, Macs, tablets, or mobile devices permitted
