Category Manager - IT

Responsibilities

• Own category strategy for assigned IT spend areas including SaaS, software, cloud infrastructure, and telecom
• Manage the renewal pipeline to preserve leverage and avoid surprise renewals
• Lead end-to-end competitive sourcing events including RFx, evaluation, and award
• Negotiate directly on pricing, terms, SLAs, and liability using a TCO view
• Partner with Legal and Information Security to drive contract execution and risk mitigation
• Act as an internal advisor to technology leaders on vendor options and commercial structures

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management
• Proven experience managing IT, software, SaaS, or technology services categories
• Ability to lead direct vendor negotiations and develop leverage-based strategies
• Working knowledge of commercial contract terms and legal redlines
• Strong spend and data analysis skills with ability to build TCO models
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Experience with procurement platforms such as Zip, Coupa, Ariba, or Jira

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations
• Background in SaaS, EdTech, or software-heavy environments
• Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth organizations
• Familiarity with cloud enterprise agreements and SaaS estates
• Relevant certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or PMP
