Chief Specialist – Platform Screen Doors (Railways)

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, development, testing, commissioning, and handover of Platform Screen Door (PSD) systems in railway projects.
• Ensure PSD systems are designed, integrated, and compliant with local and international safety and operational standards.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve system-related issues.
• Ensure the safety, functionality, and compliance of assets, engineering processes, and procedures.
• Apply engineering standards and governance for the development of solutions.
• Advise internal stakeholders on engineering solutions.
• Conduct on-site monitoring and risk assessments.
• Optimize efficiency, safety, and cost via solution selection for engineering challenges.
• Continuously improve using best practices and innovation.
• Review and validate PSD system designs for compliance with specifications and safety standards.
• Ensure seamless integration of PSD with signaling, SCADA, and communication systems.
• Coordinate between design consultants, engineers, and safety teams.
• Review design documents and validate system architecture and technical specs.
• Oversee and supervise installation, configuration, and commissioning of PSD hardware and software.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure installations meet standards.
• Develop and execute detailed testing plans for PSD system functionality and safety.
• Produce test reports and manage issue/corrective action documentation.
• Oversee final handover, documentation, certifications, and acceptance protocols.
• Provide technical support during early operations and warranty periods.
• Mentor PSD design and development teams, develop SOPs, and seek innovation in PSD technologies.
• Monitor costs, manage risks, and ensure PSD long-term reliability and safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with international standards (EN, IEC, NFPA)
• Experience with RAMS requirement EN 50126
• Experience handling complex PSD/rail integrations
• Previous work in the region (MENA/UAE)
• Leadership and mentoring experience
• Exposure to advanced PSD technologies
