Chuukese Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Chuukese and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Follow interpreter code of conduct and maintain professional standards during calls
• Take notes and apply medical terminology knowledge during calls
• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leader and comply with dress code for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Chuukese and fluent English
• High school diploma
• 1+ years of OPI experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Healthcare certifications preferred (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)
• High emotional intelligence and tolerance for diverse cultures
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• Windows 10+ computer with Intel Core i5 or equivalent, 8GB RAM minimum
• Wired Ethernet internet with 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload minimum
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone
