Chuukese Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Chuukese and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter code of ethics
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure accuracy
• Apply medical terminology knowledge and industry-specific vocabulary
• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient patients and healthcare providers
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue additional certifications
• Comply with dress code requirements for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Chuukese and fluent English proficiency
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI interpretation experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Healthcare industry certifications preferred (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)
• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills
• Windows 10+ computer with dual-core 2GHz processor and 8GB RAM minimum
• Wired Ethernet internet connection (10 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload minimum)
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone
