CLI Engineer

About the Company

Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend APIs and services in TypeScript using NestJS patterns
• Develop CLI tooling that is consistent, secure, and performant across Windows, Linux, and macOS
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to define end-to-end behavior from API design to CLI surface
• Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure reliability
• Create documentation and help content for API consumers and CLI users
• Participate in releases, versioning, and backwards compatibility management
• Monitor usage and feedback from the open source community to improve experiences

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience in backend systems or developer-facing tooling
• Strong TypeScript skills and experience shipping production API and server-side code
• Hands-on experience with command-line tools and cross-platform concerns
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node, Rust, Python, Go, or C++
• Experience building CLIs with intuitive command structures and clear error messaging
• Familiarity with package distribution (npm, Homebrew, APT, etc.)
• Solid Git workflow and CI/CD experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Contributions to open-source CLI tools or backend frameworks
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with database migration management and Postgres
