Client AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support large-scale AI projects within the Client AI Engineering team, enhancing MBZUAI’s research and product capabilities.
• Drive the deployment of AI solutions, including SDKs and applications in NLP, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning, for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead the design and development of AI-based solutions, ensuring usability, performance, and seamless coordination across virtual teams.
• Work closely with AI project owners, architects, and engineers to define tasks, set milestones, and establish development timelines.
• Analyze high-level project goals and define detailed use cases to align AI solutions with external and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor AI solution deployment, validate trial outcomes, and ensure usability based on predefined success.
• Engage with commercial and academic stakeholders, translating complex AI solutions into practical applications while mentoring engineering teams.
• Work with external customers to refine project requirements, define clear scopes, and align deliverables with business and research objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics or Physics, with a specialization in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language, Processing, Computer Vision, Robotics, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related fields.
• 5+ years of product management experience, of which at least 3+ years should be with ML or DL systems or related digital platforms.
• Familiar with key functions and technologies in IT systems: AI process including training, job scheduling, hyperparameter tuning, and ML Ops, SAAS.
• Hands-on complex business product design experience for AI applications using NLP (Natural Language Processing), ML (Machine Learning) and CV (Computer Vision).
• Hands-on experience with at least one of the popular product design tools like Figma, Axure, etc.
• Strong problem-solving skills and patience for quality and efficiency
• Strong multitasking, prioritization, and communication skills, with experience in multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the full life cycle of development in at least one AI based
• Experience in higher education or research
• Ability to develop and manage relationships with industry and academic partners to enhance MBZUAI’s research initiatives.
• Strong English proficiency, with fluency in additional languages as a plus.
