Coder - Anesthesia

Responsibilities

• Perform coding and related duties of moderate and high complexity anesthesia work using established guidelines
• Review medical documentation and assign CPT, ASA, ICD-10, HCPCS II, and modifiers
• Research billing rules and regulations for new and existing procedures
• Identify, correct, and report coding problems to ensure compliance
• Resolve complex coding edits and denials to enhance revenue
• Perform chart audits and peer to peer quality assurance reviews
• Function as a subject matter expert for assigned specialties and provide education to providers

Requirements

• Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
• Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, COC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA)
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Anesthesia coding/auditing within a surgical or procedural environment
• Advanced proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, ASA, HCPCS, and modifiers
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Proficiency with MS Office and computerized billing systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a surgical/procedural environment including compliance and billing processes
• Ability to provide cross coverage for multiple specialties
