Coder Senior - Professional Coding and Auditing experienced (Eastern United States resident)

Responsibilities

• Review medical records for inpatient and outpatient services to identify principal and secondary diagnoses
• Translate diagnostic and procedural phrases into coded form using Encoder software
• Assign appropriate DRG and ensure sequencing maximizes legal reimbursement
• Query physicians to clarify documentation for accurate coding
• Provide training for coding professionals on guidelines, medical terminology, and disease processes
• Perform coding quality audit reviews and initiate Claim Action Reports
• Develop coding policies and procedure papers for emerging technology services

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid certification from AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or CCA) or AAPC (excluding Scribe, Documentation, Instructor, and International Credentials)
• Strong computer literacy and medical records management skills
