Coding Education Specialist

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of strategic coding communication and education plans
• Develop coding content-specific, competency-based, and operational-based educational deliverables
• Create presentations, learning materials, handbooks, and other training materials
• Lead training sessions on current billing and coding information
• Provide mentoring and education to physicians
• Communicate and advise Physician Group and Revenue Cycle staff on coding principles
• Manage delivery of coding training via instructor-led, virtual classroom, or web-based methodologies
• Perform random chart audits and respond to coding questions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H credential
• Three years of experience in E/M and/or surgical coding plus reimbursement activities
• Strong command of ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT coding conventions
• Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical background
• Previous chart abstraction experience
