Data Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage the strategic backlog of the data platform using a Data-Platform-as-a-Product mindset
• Lead the evolution of Lakehouse architecture and the adoption of open formats like Apache Iceberg
• Automate Federated Computational Governance within a Data Mesh context, implementing access and quality policies via code
• Ensure the implementation of Data Contracts and observability tools like Soda, Great Expectations, or Elementary
• Optimize Developer Experience (DevEx) through self-service solutions for infrastructure and Airflow flows
• Control platform budget through advanced FinOps practices and Unit Economics
• Develop team talent through strategic hiring, development plans, and blameless post-mortems

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and managing data engineering or platform teams in high-growth environments
• Solid technical background in modern data architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Practical experience with Data Mesh, code-oriented governance, data contracts, and observability tools
• Demonstrated ability in advanced FinOps and converting technical metrics into financial impact reports
• Excellent stakeholder management skills to negotiate priorities with Product and Operations heads
• Systems Thinking approach to plan how platform changes impact analytical models and business products
