Data Modeler (Azure / Data Vault) - Dubai, UAE

Responsibilities

• Design and implement conceptual, logical and physical data models (Data Vault 2.0, dimensional, 3NF) using ERwin to support transactional, operational and analytical systems for UAE-based projects.
• Architect and deploy data models on Microsoft Azure services including Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Lake.
• Integrate models with ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and other Azure services; optimize for cloud-native performance and cost efficiency.
• Maintain model documentation: lineage, metadata, transformation rules and version control; partner with DevOps to automate deployments.
• Implement and uphold enterprise data standards, naming conventions and governance policies; ensure data quality, consistency and compliance.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers and analysts to translate business requirements into scalable data structures.
• Mentor junior modelers and provide technical guidance across cross-functional teams; stay current with Azure and data modeling best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science or related field
• 3+ years experience in data engineering/data modeling on Azure
• Proficiency in SQL (joins, CTEs, performance tuning)
• Strong Python skills for data tasks and automation
• Hands-on experience with ERwin or equivalent data modeling tools
• Experience implementing Data Vault 2.0, dimensional and 3NF models
• Practical experience with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory and Data Lake
• Familiarity with Databricks and big data concepts
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT, data warehousing and BI concepts
• Experience in the insurance or financial services domain (preferred but important for role)
• Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Data Vault 2.0 certification or demonstrable professional experience
• Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or similar Azure certifications
• Erwin Certified Professional or equivalent modeling credential
• Prior experience working on insurance MIS or portfolio/accumulation systems (e.g., ALEx MIS)
• Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Azure Purview) and metadata management
